Terms of use

Draft for review. Items in [square brackets] must be completed, and these terms should be checked by a solicitor before launch.

These terms apply when you use SteadySelf at steadyself.app or through our apps. SteadySelf is provided by [Company name], [registered address]. By creating an account you agree to them.

What SteadySelf is

SteadySelf is a self-help wellbeing tool that helps you learn and practise skills based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and is not a substitute for advice or care from a qualified professional.

Nobody monitors what you write in SteadySelf. If you are worried about your mental health, speak to your GP or a qualified practitioner.

Emergencies

SteadySelf is not an emergency service. If you are in danger or have seriously hurt yourself, call 999 or go to A&E. For urgent mental health help, call NHS 111 and choose option 2, or call Samaritans free on 116 123.

Your account

  • You must be 16 or over to use SteadySelf.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Your data in the app.

Using SteadySelf fairly

Don't try to access other people's accounts, disrupt the service or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.

Your content

What you write belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it only so we can provide SteadySelf to you, as described in our privacy policy.

Availability and changes

We work to keep SteadySelf available and your data safe, but we can't promise the service will always be uninterrupted. We may update SteadySelf and these terms. If we make significant changes we'll tell you in the app first.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. [Further limitation wording to be added after legal review.]

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
